Cows

( CLICK ON PICTURE FOR MORE INFO)

G&L Sheza Shena     (4/17/04)

Sheza catches your eye the minute you come into the pasture.  She is a rich walnut color with nice horn growth.  Her genetics include Emperor, Bail Jumper, Dixie Hunter, The  Shadow and Shena Bail.

G&L Nekkid N Nice     (1/1/04)

G&L Nekkid ‘N Nice has reached 50” before her 3rd birthday.  This heifer is representative of the “total package” Longhorn that we are breeding for.  Her sire G&L Gusto, now owned by Richard and Elaine Johnson, gave us several outstanding individuals.  She is a granddaughter of our foundation cow, Classic Bluffer.

G&L Spellbound     (7/24/03)

Spellbound’s first attempt at calving was a home run.  G&L Smitten Kitten, by G&L Showdown, has exceptional horn growth with a twist on the ends that tell us she will mature with twisty horns.  Spellbound has her second heifer on the ground by PCC Generader and she has that “look” at a very early age.

G&L Shena Shazam     (1/5/02)

G&L Shena Shazam is a beautiful walnut colored cow with good horn growth.  She produces dark colors and good horn on her offspring.  She is the type of cow that gives everything to her calf and therefore it is difficult to get a “fat” picture of her.  The Shadow/Shena Bail cross has been a good one for us.  She has a beautiful 04 heifer named G&L Sheza Shena

G&L Wa' Hoo     (1/3/02)

Wa ‘Hoo has the most horn growth of any of our heifers. She reached 60” before her 4th birthday.  Her mother was a G&L Highjacker daughter out of SR 100 G’s out of JW Super Grande.  Stacking strong producing females in her pedigree gave us what we were breeding for.  Obvious Profit is a full brother to El Presidente.

G&L Awesome Shena     (1/1/01)

Awesome Shena is a product of our AI program, combining the horn producing genetics of Phenomenon and the genetics of the “late great” Shena Bail.  It worked!  Awesome has the horn growth that we were trying to achieve and the conformation from her show ring mother.

G&L Bluff Dove     (7/1/99)

Bluff Dove is another one of those G&L Highjacker daughters that you can count on year after year to give you an outstanding calf.  She is large framed, a heavy milker and dog gentle.  She has thick based horns and passes them on to her offspring.

G&L Gilda     (11/5/01)

Gilda is large framed and very correct.  Her grandmother, Delta Wilda, was a beautiful speckled cow and had 70” of  Texas twist horns.  Gilda’s calves have the same structure and early horn growth that we are looking for.

HC Night Fantasy     (3/23/01)

Night Fantasy came to us from Jeanine and Barry Gray’s breeding program.  Her mother, Delta Fantasy, is a standout in our herd.  All of her calves have been blue roans with exceptional early horn growth.  She is a heavy milker and raises a beautiful, fat calf every year.

G&L Silver Sage     (3/7/01)

Silver Sage is one of those cows that out produce themselves everytime.  Combining G&L Highjacker and Tabasco genetics give us a base to breed this cow any direction that we want to.  She has been a horn producer for us and we have sold her heifers at public auction for above average prices.

G&L Enchantment     (3/2/01)

Enchantment is one of those cows that wrap themselves around your heart.  She is beautiful to look at, gentle enough for children to pet and is a knock out producer.  She has two herd sires to her credit. G&L Badlands and G&L Federales plus an exciting carbon copy of herself by JM Sue named G&L Enchanted Sue.  Her first calf, G&L Truly Enchanted is close by and we are keeping an eye on her!

G&L Sensational     (1/1/01)

Sensational has given us 2 herd sires, both by Emperor and a beautiful 05 heifer named G&L Sweet Sensation.  Her mother, Hawaiian Girl, made very few mistakes and the same can be said for Sensational.  She is gentle and passes that characteristic on to her calves.

G&L Skinny Dipper     (2/3/00)

G&L Highjacker and G&L Bluff Nekkid was a magic cross for us and the proof  goes on down the line through their grandchildren.  All of their offspring repeat the conformation, color and horn that we are breeding for.  She is very gentle and loves attention.

G&L High Fancy      (8/2/99)

We had an opportunity to buy this cow back and didn’t hesitate.  She is out of the famous SR Creole’s Fancy owned by Mike Casey in California.  Her left horn was damaged and removed as a calf but it hasn’t hurt her production.  She is a 1200+lb cow with a 60” horn spread. (30 x 2)

Go Ahead     (4/3/99)

Go Ahead comes to us from the Bill and Sue Burton program.  We love her double twist horns and milking ability.  Zhivago daughters produce offspring with a lot of frame and capacity and she has done that for us.  Vision Quest in her pedigree helps to assure that the twisted horn will continue.

Mystify Me     (9/21/98)

Mystify was bred by the El Coyote ranch and is out of Whelm Me who is a full sister to Emperor.  She has 60” of twisty horns and her addition to the herd gives us genetics that have worked for us in the past.  She is not as trusting as some of our other cattle but time at our ranch will fix that.

G&L Strip Poker     (4/1/98)

G&L Highjacker gave us strong females with good bone, a lot of leg, capacity, and correct conformation.  Strip Poker is an example of just that.  Her weaned calves are always in our top 10% every year.  She is a strong milker and breeds back consistently.  She has produced several calves for the show circuit.

  L-A Ms Twister   (2/13/98)

L-A Ms Twister is a standout cow in our herd because of the unusual corkscrew set to her horns.  We have followed this cow from the time we first saw her as a calf at Dale Hunt's and were excited to be able to purchase her from Ron & Barbara Marquess.  She is royally bred with Emperor as her sire and MsBarM Two Step as her dam.

G & L Bluff Nekkid     (3/11/96)

Nekkid’s name came from the fact that she was born solid white and we thought she was “nekkid as a jay bird”.  She is now a rich deep red roan and is a producer of wild colored offspring.  Her mother, Classic Bluffer, was one of our foundation cows that we purchased from Darol Dickinson.  She sported 62” of horn in the 80’s when 50” was considered exceptional.

WL Kimberly      (2/1/93)

Kim has beautiful twisty horns and flawless conformation.  She has been chosen Grand Champion Mature Cow at several shows and is a consistent producer of colorful caves.  She is in our AI program and we can always count on her for an outstanding calf no matter who she is bred to.

Whelming Crtitic     (4/20/87)

Whelming Critic is the “Grand Dam” of the pasture.  At 21 years old, she is still producing and breeding back like clock work. We made a promise to Barry and Jeanine Gray that she would live out her life here at the ranch and she will do just that! She is a walking tribute to Longhorn longevity and production.
